Owls are just too Cute!

Carrying on with my obsession with owls (I have artwork, fabric scissors and sewing pouch--all with owls on them), I just had to buy some cute fabric covered with owls.  It became a pillow case dress with a matching stuffy, inspired by the fabric.  The tutorial can be found here.  It was gifted to little Marilyn this weekend and you can see it's a hit! The Spring Garden

This Spring's been cold and rainy compared to last year when we were in the 80's in April.  Of course this means not is happening so far.  We had our first year of 'harvest-able' Asparagus.  It was exciting and I'm looking forward to next Springs crop.

This year's garden will be a bit smaller.  Instead of starting seeds inside, they will either be directly sown or bought plants.  Hopefully a couple different types of Eggplant, Tomatos--cherry and sandwich, and lettuce.  Also a variety of herbs--oregano, basil, common chives and garlic chives, rosemary, and large leaf italian parsley.  Fingers crossed for a good turn out this year.

Unfortunately, our perennial gardens took a hit this year.  We lost 7 roses, a majority of them were Knock-Out's.  While sad, this is an opportunity to try new plants in those spaces.  We'll place a few more roses in there, but I'm not sure if we'll add all roses.  We've picked out one already, a nice sunshine yellow rose.  I'll post pictures when it has some nicer blooms open.  Hopefully this weekend will get nicer so I can plant some of our more tender vegetables and herbs.

April Showers

So we've had a lot of rain this last week, which means the motivation to do...well anything, is at an all time low.  I did have one day of productivity tho, so I started cutting fabric for the large bed quilt I mentioned last post.  Here are a few pictures of the fabric we've picked.  These swatches are all French General.

In-between Easter and working on cutting this fabric, I pieced another top that will be for sale at CozyCrafts in good time.  It's a unisex baby quilt, with a mixed assortment of cotton, flannel, and eventually Minky fabrics.  As I was piecing the squares I found this lovely note from my Mother who saw the squares as I had them up on my display board.  Isn't she great?!

Finally, I bought this pattern from Loft Creations, who does a lovely blog on quilting, food stuffs, and her cute dog Abby.  I've got the fabric picked out and now just need the motivation to put it together!  It's planning to be a new gym bag--perhaps a new bag will spur more motivation to get there?  One can only hope, and if not, well I can always use another bag.
